Ceremonies > Civil Marriage Ceremony
(Please first review the general information included on the Ceremonies and Marriage Ceremony pages)
Many couples simply have a Judge or other authorized public official perform a basic ceremony to meet legal and statutory requirements. This may be done in Louisiana. However, it is my view that marriage is a very significant event in the lives of the two people concerned—that it is a rite to demonstrate their love, unity and the beginning of a new life together.
Their thoughts, emotions and feelings should be an integral part of that unity—not just the legal niceties. The ceremony can be a sharing of their sentiments—alone together or with a surrounding of family and friends.
A civil ceremony may be as simple or as comprehensive as you desire. It may be accomplished in almost any setting. The only requirement is for there to be at least two witnesses—which I can arrange at no additional cost if necessary.
I will provide a portfolio of civil marriage ceremonies from which you may select appropriate portions and passages. However you are not obliged to use any of them. Further, you may add or modify words and phrases as you wish. In addition, as appropriate, you may include the participation of family and friends to provide selected readings. To paraphrase a national chain advertisement—I'll do it YOUR way!
